About

Poised to swap the fried chicken of London (pop 7,512,400)  for the peaches of Okayama City, Japan (pop 705,224).

We Love The City is both the title of a Hefner song/album and my moblog. Sadly, I don’t really update my moblog anymore, due to having a REALLY old phone which doesn’t work very well at sending pictures, and I felt that having an online space to dump words as well as images could be a good thing. Especially when I’m about to spend a year living and working in Japan. I kept the name because when I decided to get back into blogging, I hadn’t yet found out I was moving to a rural region of Japan. Oh the irony.

Things I am interested in and likely to write about: projects (such as learning the ukelele, Japanese and how to knit), travel, music, film, books, tea, monkeys, cats, politics (I’ll try and keep the rants to a minimum but this is a fair warning that it may happen) – oh and of course living in Japan.

Well, that’s the idea for now, anyway. I’ll see how this goes. Thanks for stopping by.

This is London, not Antartica, so why don’t the tubes run all night,
You are my Girlfriend, not Molly Ringwald, so why won’t you stay here tonight,
This is sixth form poetry not Keats or Yeats, and now we find the part that we both hate.

We love the city because it lets us down, We love the city NOT the suburbs that surround.
We love all the dirty things, that lead us to think, that maybe true love could be found.
We love the city because it’s how we live, We love the city cause it never loves us back.
We love it all because sometimes, even though they’re hard to find, it contains all the virtues we lack.

(Hefner “We Love The City”)
